Susan's LivSxinney Lifestyle Blog

Step by Step, One Pound at a Time

Hi Everyone! My name is Susan Booth. I live in Sandy, Utah and I have decided to make my weight loss journey public. I want to share what is working for me and to make myself accountable. (Sorry about the scary picture! I'm the one in the middle. I just want you to see where I am right now so I can guage the results. I actually do have a full length body picture with all my blubber exposed, but it's just too painful to post for the whole world to see).

I have been inspired by so many people who have won the battle of the bulge. If my story can help just one person, it will be well worth it. As of today, I have lost a total of 10 lbs. in 2 weeks. (Yippee!) I still have a way to go, but I must tell you that I am excited! Let me give you a little background on how I packed on the pounds.

Baby Fat

When I was 19 years old, I was very thin and weighed approximately 120 lbs. I was young and carefree and really could eat anything that I wanted. I had been sick for about 5 months when I walked in to the doctor's office only to find out that I was pregnant. For the next four months, until I delivered my beautiful daughter, Eliza, I ate everything I could get my hands on! I was so afraid about being a mom and raising her on my own. When I had my little girl, I weighed a whopping 240 lbs! I had doubled my body weight. Although I do think hormones played a role in my weight gain, I had developed some bad habits that would follow through my life.
Baby Fat....again...

I started dieting on and off and somehow my body went down to 160 lbs. I stayed that way for many years. I met the man of my dreams and got married 9 years ago. About a year later we had our son, Oscar. This time I only gained 40lbs during my pregnancy. After having my baby, I immediately dropped down to 180 lbs., but couldn't lose anymore.

Tragedy Strikes, Comfort Eating Takes Over

On September 11th, 2001, one day before my baby's first birthday our country was attacked by terrorists. Like so many, I was afraid and scared. I spiraled into a deep depression. I knew that I needed help. I sought help through medication. The medication I took helped to make me pack on another 72lbs. How depressing is that?!

A Surprise Encounter 2 weeks ago (January 15th, 2009)

While working at my job at a furniture retailer, I ran into one of my hero's. Her name is Glenna de Lisle. I was so excited to see her! Glenna is an amazing motivational speaker, trainer and coach. She is also a singer and songwriter. I had attended many of her trainings in the past and had purchased much of her material. At first, I wasn't sure it was her because she had lost so much weight. She didn't know me personally, but I just had to talk to her and find out what she was doing. That's when she shared LivSxinney with me. She shared with me that she had lost 45 lbs. over a 3 month period. She had done this by pouring this minty, green, concoction in her water and drinking it all day long. I begged her to tell me more. Rather than me sharing every last detail, I really encourage you to watch these short videos.
